Congratulations to all SIMOC 2017 Participants!

A splendid showcase of the best math Olympians from across 20 countries in Asia saw an impressive turnout of about 1200 participants at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2017.

Now in its third year run, SIMOC 2017 celebrates the achievement of outstanding math champions in the region at the most successful Math Olympiad Competition in Asia. SIMOC uses a uniquely fun and stimulating format which unleashes the participants’ ability to solve challenging math problems. The competition’s interactive rounds also help to develop the participants’ 21st century skills such as teamwork, effective communication skills and problem-solving skills using fun Maths Warriors game and other intriguing puzzles during the Mind Sports Challenge.

Guest-of-honour, Sarbjit Singh, Retired Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Brigadier General gave a motivating speech to encourage all participants to pursue their dreams and continue to persevere despite the setbacks in their lives.  He shared his success story on how his unwavering determination paid off when he became the world’s first Sikh operational pilot for F-5 & F-16 fighter jets.

“I’m really excited to see SIMOC growing from strength to strength during these 3 years,” commented Mr Henry Ong, President of the Singapore Scholastic Trust. “And with such great support from our country partners, teachers and parents, we’re already planning for next year’s SIMOC 2018 to be even bigger, better and more exciting!”
