Singapore – Nineteen countries and territories were represented at the 5th Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) with 1105 contestants in Singapore from July 6 to 9, 2019. The competition was held on Sunday, July 7, started with registrations from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and it was held at the academic oasis of GEMS World Academy in the north of Singapore. The countries and territories represented were: Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The SIMOC Award Ceremony was an astonishing success being held at the high-tech Star Performing Arts Centre on July 8. Winners and their families started to arrive from 3:00 pm to register and all the international students and parents were decked out in their beautiful country attire. The event was dazzling with colours and the outstanding performance of the students made the event was even more spectacular. This year, we were honoured to have guests from 7 foreign embassies: Ambassadors from Maldives, His Excellency Dr Abdulla Mausoom and Uzbekistan’s His Excellency Kakhramon Shakirov as well as Embassy leaders from Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Bulgaria.
